How to access your child’s order

The first mark order was posted home to all parents/guardians in October. Attached to this was a sticker with your child’s email address and child&#146s password.

Using these details you can login to the parents area here and access your child’s orders and reports starting with Mark Order 1, October 2009. Other documents will also be stored here - exam timetables etc for your convenience

Common Problems

I don’t have the password/email address
Please feel free to ring or e-mail the school and we will supply these details to you again

It won’t let me login with my e-mail address
The email address used is based on the pupil not the parent/guardian. You need to use your child’s school email address which was posted home along with the password in the first mark order

I can’t open the files
There can be several reasons for this. You will need a program called Adobe Reader to read PDF files. This is free to download here

You need an up to date Internet browser to access these files as we have complex security measures in place. These are typically free to download.

If the files won’t open in a browser try downloading them to your computer (right click on the file name and select Save Target As)

Wuthering Heights Film auditions

Ecosse Film’s casting director Lucy Pardee approached the school recently looking for young actors for a new feature length version of Wuthering Heights. She was looking particularly for young actors who could play Heathcliff, Cathy and Edgar as children and as they grow up. The film is due to be shot over the summer.

The production company have already auditioned over a 1000 youngsters, so St Peter’s was very pleased to learn that 11 pupils from St Peter’s and 5 from St Olave’s are now through to the next stage of casting.

The casting experience was an interesting morning as she put pupils through their paces and in one exercise asked pupils to show various emotions - fear, anger and excitement using just one phrase ’How could you do that?’.

Watch this space to find out how our young hopefuls get on over the summer............

25 schools at 4th Physics Olympics

EVEN MORE SCHOOLS AT 4th PHYSICS OLYMPICS

Over 100 13 year old pupils, representing 24 schools from across York and the North, took part in The Fourth Physics Olympics held at St Peter’s School. The event is designed to promote the fun and practical nature of Physics and is now attracting schools from even further afield with 5 new schools attending including one from Bury and two from Hull.

The profile of Physics is improving thanks to the impact of TV presenter Professor Brian Cox, who has just received a CBE for his services to Science but the number of pupils taking science subjects at university is still declining.

Each schools brings a team of 4 pupils who take part in a series of Physics related ‘games/exercises’. Each team is named after a famous physicist such as Archimedes or Volta. The ‘games’ are timed and competitive with each team amassing points across the day. The ‘games’ involve a mixture of practical skills and physics and mathematical knowledge as well as team work. For example the game called ‘Generation X’ shows how wind turbines work, Mind over Matter’ features different materials and densities, ‘Target Practice’ is about pin point accuracy, whilst ‘News Extra’ explores the stability of structures such as bridges.

See the photo gallery to see the schools and games in action.

‘Every year I take a group of 6th Form pupils to a Physics Olympics in Liverpool and thought it would be a good idea to do this sort of thing for younger pupils’ said David Morris, Head of Physics at St Peter’s, who created the event, ‘ So we are very pleased to see more and more schools coming every year’.

David Morris has attracted funding and sponsorship from the Institute of Physics and the Ogden Trust, but is also being supported by local sponsors and businesses, namely The Vikings York Rotary Club, Taylor’s of Harrogate and Yorvik Electrical Contractors.

Several schools won in the heat stage but the overall winners this year were first time attendees -

1st The Royal Grammar School Newcastle

2nd Hull Collegiate

3rd Hymer’s College

U15 Cricket Team - Yorkshire Champions

U15 Cricket Team are Yorkshire Champions

On Monday St Peter’s U15’s played Hipperholme School in the Yorkshire final of the ECB 20/20 Tournament. Hipperholme scored 117 in their 20 overs and St Peter’s managed to achieve the score in the 17th over losing 4 wickets, Will Booth scoring 39. This then put them into the North of England final at Kendal Cricket Club on Tuesday to join the winners of Durham, Lancashire and Cumbria. Unfortunately the winners of Durham did not turn up so that put us straight into the final against the winners of Manchester Grammar and Sedbergh.

Sedbergh won and managed a score of 146 in their 20 overs against us. Unfortunately a slow start meant we were always behind the required rate but a valiant effort saw us finish on 126 - 20 runs short.

A fantastic achievement for the U15’s to be Yorkshire Champions and runners up in the North of England.

Girls’ Tennis - Aberdare Cup

Tuesday 18th May

In the third round of the national Aberdare Cup, our successful senior girls had a thrilling 4 hour encounter against a very strong Pocklington team. Our double sister acts of Olivia and Vickie Herrenschmidt and top pair Sophie and Charlotte Worsman ran themselves into the ground with their ‘never say die’ attitude.

At three matches all - a sudden death tie break shoot out took place. The Worsman girls playing an aggressive and tactical game came out as winners 10-4. An excellent result with the standard of the girls tennis being at an all time high. The semi final game will be between the winners of Rivington and Black Rod HS and Kirkham Grammar School.
