Housing starts in March rose to an annual rate of 549,000 from 512,000 in February. In addition, private employers added 230,000 new jobs last month, which comes on top of the 240,000 new private jobs added in February. It was the first time that private sector hiring topped 200,000 in back-to-back months since 2006.
