In retrospect, I should've gotten back to the station before now. This should probably be their 3rd trip. But that first one ran so long due to my "day in the life" gambit that it kind of scared me away. Even though it's been nigh on a year and a half, it always felt too soon as I was planning the next thing. On the other hand, if I'd let them complete 2 missions before the TV people found them, that late arrival would probably have been even more preposterous. I dunno. Makin' it up as I go along. We're here now, though, and like last time, this will be a momentous occasion.

For any of you who haven't checked out my Tumblr, normally I wouldn't blame you. Way too busy to draw other stuff. But in the last couple of weeks, I've posted a couple of pretty cool things! The link, as ever, is above.

New comics every Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

I do a lot of weird things just to entertain myself while I'm making these things. In today's comic, that means biting one of John Romita, Jr.'s signature poses, putting Byron in one of his oft-used running poses. I mean, why not, right? I love John Romita, Jr. Huge. I'd call him a big influence if there was any hint of him in my little scribblin' aside from this blatant reference.

Comic #350! I did it! Imdabes!

I am pretty bad about writing a wall of text. I know it. I just don't really know how to correct it. But I am getting better at managing it, at least. Byron's speech in panel 2 was just a huge block of text at first, but I tinkered with it and now it at least doesn't look so bad.

It was awhile before I realized that maybe everyone not wanting to be on TV would seem weird to you, dear reader. I guess the conventional wisdom is that everyone wants to be famous. But I don't. Fame looks like a trap to me. Riches, sure, gimme all the money, but if I can't go buy some socks without people coming up and recognizing me... no, thank you. So that attitude found its way into this without thinking about it. But I guess Summer's eagerness to be a star balances out Mike & Alexa's constant complaining. Maybe?

I think we've all been there. Whether you were the Summer or the Anthony in this scenario, I think you feel it. I redrew her face in the last panel probably a dozen times. Never quite got the right mix of panic and anger. :)

It's possible that the author speaks from experience here. Possibly experience gained in the Summer of 2000. Possibly in a gas station in a badly wired part of town where the power went out all the time on top of all the other nonsense. I actually wrote a version of this a long time ago and decided it was way too long to make a comic out of. I cut it down some and here it is. Still way too long, but not as way too long as it used to be. I really have to learn to say more with less...

In the original Star Wars trilogy, R2-D2 talked. He may have just made beep boop sounds, but the majority of those sounds were vocalized by Ben Burtt, and he really said things. I distinctly remember figuring this out as a kid, watchin The Empire Strikes Back for the thousandth time, when Luke said, "I think I'd like to keep it on manual for awhile" (or something to that effect, nerds), and R2 replied with the number of syllables and the right inflection to say, "Keep it on manual?" I liked that. I couldn't always guess what he was supposed to be saying, of course, but I could tell he was saying something. This is just one of the zillion things the prequels got wrong, just recycling noises. All of which is to say, our little PAC talks, too. Most of the time. Unless a simple "Doot!" is better for comedy. But most of the time, I did have words in mind when I typed up all those doots. I will leave it up to you to guess what he's saying.

Plenty likeable! It's sometimes a little hard to figure out how to manage such a big cast, but I'm glad I went through with this. It's pretty nice to have this other group to follow. Having people with totally different objectives and attitudes and such. Gives me so many more options than the same old people without any real conflict (Aside from Summer & Mike sniping at each other, but that barely counts).

Hello! It's 2012! I hope your New Year's Eve was cool, or at the very least, survivable. Hey, we got comics again. About time. You are glad it's not another wall of text (I'm assuming) and I am glad I didn't have to type and format another wall of text. We all win! Today begins the intro to the next major storyline. This is The Big One! What does that mean? Does it mean anything? Am I engaging in the kind of hype the major comic book companies are locked in an endless cycle of? Have I seen too many car commercials over the holidays? Or is this really THE BIG ONE? I don't know. If you know, send me an email. Otherwise: Stay tuned!

I seem to be chattier in 2012. Will it last? So many questions...
