Delusionary State's Update For 2010-03-12

HOT TALKING ACTION. Though Walt may strike some as being a huge dick, he's really not - he's just very pragmatic. Why loiter around a craphole palace when what they're looking for clearly isn't there? It's a waste of time. Then again, yeah, maybe he is just a being a huge dick.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-03-11

Behold proof that my break didn't help at all: really crappy art. Wah wah wah...

Alright, it's not that bad. But I'll just never get the hang of inking.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-03-09

Alright, so that was clearly one of the stupider things I've ever done in my ten-odd years of webcomics. I really don't have the level of self-control necessary to work without a deadline. As such, I'm just resuming a regular schedule. Sorry about the ridiculously long time you had to wait for my erstwhile vacation. I highly suggest skimming the archives again, if only to remember what the hell is going on.

My time off was, however, fruitful, even if it didn't produce updates. I have several pages of DS already done and ready to go online, and I wrote a crapton of other scripts for different projects (which you'll surely see more of soon).

In any event, see you every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday again. I really am rubbish without a schedule.

Oh, and I'll fix the website design later. My new pages are a bit... wide.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-03-07

So, after today, I've decided to update the comic in chunks, like my good buddy Meredith over at Octopus Pie. Updates will come every month or so - the RSS feed will be your friend. I'm probably shooting myself in the foot with this, but - and it's rather evident with this particular issue - I'm growing tired of rushing through things. Pages are going up half finished, and even the ones that ARE finished aren't done to my satisfaction - they're just shoved out the door because of my completely arbitrary schedule. Thus, I've decided that the only way to improve the quality of my work is to actually spend some time on it instead of throwing it online as soon as possible.

If this upsets you, I apologize. I'll take your rage as a compliment, since you clearly care enough about my work to want more of it faster. Like I said, just subscribe to the RSS feed or stalk me on Twitter. When a chunk of pages goes online, you'll know about it. (Plus, let's be honest - this is a bloody comic book. It reads a lot better as a whole than on a page-by-page basis.)

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-28

Trot is weird. Very, very weird. And now she's a dog, which I suppose only makes her weirder.

Weirder? More weird?

Eh, whatever.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-26

So, clearly I was only three pages in and already getting ridiculously bored of drawing the boys. I'm pretty flakey that way. As such, enjoy Jellia, the remarkably apathetic maid.

This page is 100% digital. I "penciled" it in Illustrator. Not bad for an experiment. I ran out of comic book paper a couple months ago and simply got fed up with drawing on the backs of old pages. If nothing else, working digitally makes more sense finanically (one doesn't have to pay for pencils, pens, and paper), though it looks a bit of... something. Anyway, yay computers.

I think I just switched to completely digital art so I could justify getting a nicer tablet in the future.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-25

Man, I had a PLAN for Thursday. I really did. I wrote it down and everything. Then wackiness ensued at my house when we were deluged with Noah's flood and my friend's truck got stuck in my driveway (yes, my driveway is made of dirt, nay, MUD) for several hours.

I guess that'll happen sometimes. Anyway, I got distracted. So here's pencils. Yep.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-21

I'll get this thing finished later today. Ink and color was sadly delayed by... crap. Just crap.

Anyway, I've got a lot more than just finishing this page on tap for the future, assuming ADD doesn't bite me in the ass again. Keep your eyes peeled.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-19

Four months later...

Seriously, it's been four months. I suppose that's my fault for flinging too many characters into one story. In any event, now begins the manliest story I've ever drawn. By that I mean, I rarely draw guys. They're boring to draw and I find it hard to make them look unique. This is why all my comics are pretty much only populated by women and freaks. I mention all this because most of this issue is just the boys, and it'll be quite the accomplishment on my part.

You can all shake your heads sadly in my direction now.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-17

Hey, it's the cover to the next issue! As you can see, it features the triumphant return of male protagonists, as well as the further adventures of Martina O'Reily, Girl Princess of Oz. I rather like this cover, though it has too much dead space at the top. It also prompts me to wonder whether or not my covers to the comics are better than the comics themselves.

If nothing else, its quality only serves to remind me that I still need to make covers for the first two issues. Their lack of coverage sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

That last panel looked better in my head. On the other hand, the other panels look BETTER than they looked in my head, so go figure. In any event, tune in next time for THE MANLIEST COMIC I'VE EVER WRITTEN.

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-12

Martina and the Tin Soldier are quite the duo. They should team up and fight crime. Granted, there probably wouldn't be enough sexual tension to sustain an hour-long TV show, but I bet I could swing it via audio drama. Quick, somebody call the BBC!

Hey, Jillian is still in this comic! Kind of silly that she sorta disappeared, given that I devoted an entire issue to her before. But still, here she is... and there she goes. That's showbiz!

Delusionary State's Update For 2010-01-05

It's 2010! WELCOME TO THE FUTURE! The future should be an interesting place. DS should chug along as it has, hopefully with some readership growth. I'm scripting several other projects too, that I'll probably squeeze into the Tuesday/Thursday slot or just as standalone releases. It should be jolly good fun, so I hope you stick around.
