Y'know, 'The' Forest. What do you mean there's more than one?

And that makes page 2 colored by our intern, Nicholas Songco. We think we'll keep him ;-) So long as he's got the time, that is!

Ahhhh, Roan just wanted to not be interrupted anymore. First he gets ambushed by Jana Motormouth Juren, and then PO'd Dara comes storming in shrieking about carnies. Can't a guy eat in peace? He sure does like his meat on the bone. He kind of looks like a kid with cotton candy. And Dara's starting to sound like a broken record, isn't she?

Issue 2 should be in our grubby little hands some time this week. Squeee!!!

Halloween this weekend, also a squee. Anyone who doesn't already have fantastically nerdy plans for the night should check out the MarsCon Masquerade Ball in Bloomington.

And oh yes, it's Monday, please vote!

Posted a new Caspian wallpaper on the freebies page!

ValleyCon was a giant success. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi. We met some very cool people, made a few bucks, and passed out a bunch of freebies...and we hope some of those people came back to check on us today!

One of those neat people was Jamieson Ridenhour, the writer of Cornerboys, a fantastically creepy short film that's catching eyes at Film Festivals everywhere (no, not as in the Corner Boys from The Wire). The artist, Ali LaRock, was also wandering the grounds at the Con, sitting on panels and such. It's less than 11 minutes long, and I highly recommend checking it out when you've got the time. They're not kidding when they say horror fairy tale!

Now we turn our attentions toward Wisconsin and TeslaCon, where it's highly encouraged to dress in costumery. So you can bet we will.

And, because it just wouldn't be Monday, unless I asked,

I think that is probably the single longest "conversation" anyone has ever had with Roan. That would be Jana. She talks. A lot. Most of the time she doesn't expect anyone to talk back.

VALLEYCON starts on Friday! Best Western in Fargo, ND. Be there. Or square. Whichever you like.

We may or may not have copies of issue 2 with us...getting them printed is not much less of a hassle than issue 1 was...you think somewhere along the line either we or the printers would iron out the kinks. Not that I'm pointing fingers or anything...I digress...

Come see us at the con! Nathan will be drawing live, might even sketch you something if you ask really nicely...I'll do you a favor and not sketch you anything...unless you really, really liked the April Fools Day page. But if you thought the art was good, I have some bad news for your taste. Just sayin'.

And because it would be weird if I ended an update without shamelessly begging you to vote for us to keep Impure Blood visible on the leaderboards, here you go....vote for us, pretty, pretty please?

So sorry, Roan did NOT, in face, pull a Scarlet O'Hara. Nor did the big green musketeer make a reappearance. Sometimes we take ourselves seriously. Sometimes. Don't get too used to it.

Mark Sheppard, because some of you have asked why I'm so excited to see him at ValleyCon in two weeks, is an actor any good nerd should know. He was on two of my very personal favorite sci-fi series ever--Battlestar Gallactica (as Baltar's lawyer) and on Firefly, opposite Nathan Fillion and crew as Badger. Everyone should be as excited as I am.

Sadly yes, for those of you who've been kind enough to inquire, ValleyCon is the same weekend as FallCon here in the cities this year, so we will be missing the 1-day adventure at the State Fairgrounds. We will be back in the spring, fear not!

And, because your day wouldn't be complete without me asking you a favor, go vote! And then come back...so you can vote here!

Oh Roan...that's kinda creepy...but how would he know that, I guess...

And now the trick is to stay out of sight when someone comes to the room--is he going to Scarlet O'Hara the curtains? That would be hilarious...

We finally ordered [and received!] our new Roanface buttons for ValleyCon! They're just like Smiley buttons...except they're Roan...and he's not really smiley...Fingers crossed that the first shipment of Issue 2 gets in on time so that we have them for purchase up in Fargo.

In other news, ISSUE TWO IS FOR SALE!!!! You can either follow the link straight to the IndyPlanet page, or check out the site's store page here. We did check with the publishers, and they will ship internationally, but we are also willing to send you signed copies at $4+shipping via PayPal by request through contactus@impurebloodwebcomic.com. It will take us a few weeks to get them in stock, but we'll send them out as soon as we've got them. Our Archive page has been updated and should load faster. Check it out if you've gotten behind (shame on you!).

We've got out latest promo goodies on order for ValleyCon, which is coming up in just a few weeks. I can't be the only one out there completely, nerdishly excited to see Mark Shepard. Of course, the Geek's Got Talent show should prove entertaining as well.

Not much to update this week. The Chicago Half Marathon has scrambled our brains a tad. It's a long day when you get up at 5 a.m. to run a ridiculous 13.1 miles and then make the 7 hour return drive shortly thereafter...

Attention all I.B. fans--we are currently looking for a digital colorist interested in intern credit. Or the occasional buck or two. Y'know, whichever. Interested parties should shoot an email to contactus@impurebloodwebcomic.com. We'll ask you to submit an audition page (Nathan will provide the lines, all you do is color them in!), and go from there. With enough of a buffer, we may be able to post twice a week!

Think about it...that's TWO TIMES the beat-downs for creepy carnies!

The summer is winding down now, and to go with it, we have a new issue of Impure Blood coming up...soon...ish. We're working on it--again, that intern would be helpful. *hint hint*

Real-life sightings will be all over the place for the next few months. Next weekend we'll be in Chi-town, running the half marathon. No rest for the wicked...thereafter we'll be heading out for the MN RenFest! Get your costumes ready!

Not much else to report...the brain is still having trouble adapting to non-vacation mode and taking a two week hiatus from real life leaves you with a bunch of catch-up work to do. We are working on compiling issue 2, which we will be selling online as well as at TeslaCon and ValleyCon. Both are coming up quickly!

We will be out wandering around the MN Renaissance Festival as well sometime during September. We won't be hawking or drawing anything, but wandering around in costume? You bet!

Home again, home again, jiggidy jig! That's right, we're back! Internet problems behind us, so don't hold your breath for more bonus pages! We would love to put up two pages every week, but Nathan does have to work on other things. Plus, we're a bit more complex than a black/white 3-panel strip. At least, we like to think so...

Anyway, the crew is back to doing what they do best--Caspian hanging out in a corner, being aloof, Elnor flirting with locals at the bar,Roan is still confused and recovering upstairs, and Dara...well, she's on her way out on a secret mission. Secret missions to carnie freak shows can only end well, right? Come back next week and find out.

Roan can't decide whether to like her or not. It's always useful to have friends who can throw knives, but like everyone else that arrived on this car, she's self-serving and cranky. She's also kind of a klepto, but she keeps that on the down-low.

The beauty of being the writer of this is that I have absolutely zero idea what an oscillating fuselage would look like. Poor Nathan! He does find some clever ways around those cases though!.

Hey hey! Is that an Impure Blood fan I spy in panel 4?

Why yes, I do believe that is the winner of the IBOG Scavenger Hunt hiding behind that Ancient mask! He is providing some nice ambience-setting for poor old Roan. Some of the people of Twin Pass aren't so happy about all the freaks in their little town. What a bunch of jerks.

Anyone looking to join a good, nerdy cause should check out the MISFITS (Minnesota Society for Interest in Science Fiction and Fantasy). Promoting literacy is always cool, and hey, they're hosting a Pirate/Ninja Geek prom. Not to mention CONvergence every July at the Sheraton in Bloomington. And the fact that it's Sci/Fi & Fantasy, makes it that much cooler.

We've gotten a few requests via email regarding 'extras' for issue 2...keep 'em coming!

Also, if you can spare us a minute and five or six keystrokes, come VOTE FOR I.B.! Since the Webcomicz site reset just a few weeks ago, we've somehow dropped out of the top ten over there...help us fix that and get us back into the top ten! And if you're feeling particularly magnanimous, we wouldn't say "no" to a few votes at Top Web Comics either...pretty please?!
