"Annalise and the Scandalous Rake," Deb Marlowe's anthology story in The Diamonds of Welbourne Manor, is a Rita Finalist. The same story is also a finalist in the Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence.

April Book in a Week

April's Book in a Week challenge had 9 participants, more or less, and the group came up with 204 new pages. Our winner was Laura Webb, who said that because of BiaW, "I was able to break loose on a story that had been stalled for a few months..." Taking advantage of Spring Break, she produced 88 new pages!

March Book in a Week

A dozen people decided to go for the Book in the Week page-push this March. Despite the awful cold that was making the rounds and left some of our participants in bed rather than at their computer, the group still came up with 349 new pages.

It was neck and neck between Nancy Badger and Scott Berger near the end, but Scott surged ahead at the last moment, totaling 65 pages!

Let's hear it for all involved!

September Book in a Week Results

For September Book in a Week we had only five participants, who together wrote 110 new pages! That was with writers' conferences, sick babies and such going on, too. Karen M. said she got to where she wanted to be in her book by the time the week was done.

Virginia K. likes to use timed writing to get the most output, so try that. Set a timer for whatever, put your butt in the chair knowing that you'll be free! Free! after it goes off, and see how that works for you.

The person who wrote the most this week was Laura Webb, who produced 48 pages! Hooray for her and for the rest of our hard-working group!

The next BiaW should start Oct. 3.

HCRW authors Sabrina Jeffries and Deb Marlowe along with Michelle Willingham will be doing a book signing at the Brier Creek Barnes and Noble in Raleigh, NC on October 3rd at 1 pm. Hope to see you there!

July Book in a Week Results

n July we had 9 enthusiastic participants, who together created 252 new pages! Some had high goals, like finishing their book, and one just did it to get her story going again.

Though they're all winners, our official "winner" was Laura Webb, who produced 74 pages for the week!

The next BiaW challenge will begin on August 1st.
