A Picture of Health - Lance Icarus

So we've got this picture at our local Red Robin that's exactly what's represented here. What's not represented is the unanimous decision that there was a baby tossing painting in front of the bathrooms. Don't say you wouldn't want to toss a baby either. You've all had that crying baby sitting right next to you and the parents trying to talk over the baby. It was then you thought to yourself that you could take bets if you can throw that kid all the way into the waiting area.

I have pictures of that Harvest Moon cake from last week and I will be posting them up tomorrow. Until then, I'm going to Olive Garden. Gonna get me some stuffed mushrooms.

No More Rawrs - Lance Icarus

I can see the cougars walking away now. Their time here is done, we have come to an agreement. There is peace once again in the Wild West.

I'd like to thank all of you that sent me a Happy Birthday message. I had a lot of fun last Friday and my girlfriend made the most AMAZING CAKE EVAR. I'll have another newspost a little later with pics, but Harvest Moon fans will be jealous. In fact, you'll all be jealous. My girlfriend is better than yours na-na-na-na-bu-bu.

Are They Gone Yet? - Lance Icarus

Ahh, phew, okay. Looks like they've gone for now. With this brief window, lets talk video games.

The 3DS is definitely getting a pre-order from me. Yes, it's pretty gimmicky, but what is video games other than a series of gimmicks and trends we follow? Hopefully Nintendo has learned from it's past mistakes in 3D. I'm still getting migranes just thinking about that thing. Luckily the 3DS has the advantage of Kid Icarus: Uprising as a launch title. If you're not reserving that game with a 3DS preorder, then I have no idea why you're getting the thing.

It's groanworthy to see the Kinect and the Move because you know exactly why they're doing it, but you can't blame them either. Nintendo has had that "casual" motion control market share and it's only natural to want a piece of that delicious pie. It probably tastes like cherry or apple. OH! Maybe it tastes like THE COUGARS ARE BACK! AAAAAAAAAHHH!

So Many Cougars

Cougar News - Lance Icarus

The cougars in Red Dead Redemption are the meanest animals in the entire game and they will ALWAYS find you. We've seen them down on the desert lands, up in the hills, and everywhere inbetween. They'll not only kill you, but they'll kill mission related characters like it was nothing. Cougars be holding me back, yo.

So we saw quite a bit during the E3 coverage. I don't believe there are any "winners" to E3 other than the consumer but I have to say the Nintendo conference blew me away. I'm a nostalgia nerd and seeing all those great new titles come to life was amazing. Speaking of coming to life, the 3DS is definitely getting preordered as soon as I OH GOD COUGARS!

Erasing Past Mistakes

If you had a dagger that could turn back time, wouldn't you want to stop Bubble Boy at all costs? Come on, this is exactly what Jake would have done.

So there's this Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie out and I saw it with my eyes. This is a straight blockbuster summer action flick. It's entertaining for two and a half hours, but you're going to leave only talking about two scenes and completely forgetting the rest of the movie. On a related note, what is it with Disney films making their "princesses" whiniest person in the whole film? I know that princesses may whine from time to time, but you'd think a princess who has lived in the desert their whole lives wouldn't whine about walking in the desert. The Princes always have the basic survival training, but do they just keep princesses in the darkest room of the castle and only travel by piggy back?

There's one odd thing though about this movie. You know how these video game movies love taking elements from the game and incorporating them (the first person sequence from Doom comes to mind)? This movie seems to use more elements from Assassin's Creed than Prince of Persia, which lead me to wonder how awesome a cross-over would be.

Creed of Persia anyone? You know it would at least be worth checking out.

Fisher Fail

Keep On Rollin' - Lance Icarus

Yes, it's another Spinter Cell Conviction comic. The next comic is likely to be about Red Dead Redemption. Can you tell what two games we've been playing for a month straight? I'm getting Mario Galaxy 2 today, so that basically means our summer is completely filled. You can stop releasing games until Fall game industry, we're good.

Conviction is a great game, no doubt, but there are lingering problems. The controls stick out most of all. I can't tell you how many times Dizzy has actually rolled into the middle of the level only to get blasted by every guard at the airbase because he meant to reload. It is funny seeing him toss a grenade at his feet when he's trying to open a weapon cache though. Thank goodness the mark and execute can give you a bit of a safety net in case of a bad control roll.

Alan Wake and Friends

Pitch Black - Lance Icarus

Yeah yeah, I know that Alan Wake is suppose to be scary, but at it's core the game is about an overgrown child carrying around a nightlight to ward off the Boogeyman. Now if Riddick was there, the darkness would be running away from him. No one would be left alive, day or night.

Splinter Cell just keeps inspiring comics that you will see soon and Red Dead Redemption is having a midnight release that will see +1 Attendance. May is currently kicking butt and taking no prisoners. Now I get to wait patiently for Mario Galaxy 2 to come out and I'll be set for the summer.

There's really not a lot to say other than Happy Birthday Dizzy! He got a totally awesome birthday cake of the Star Fox 64 title screen (I'll post the picture when it becomes available) and Splinter Cell Conviction. I'm thinking we're going to be hanging out a bit this week to see how Sam Fisher gets his revenge. Now I've got a mountain of homework to get to so I'll see you all next week!

Red Dead Donkey

My Favorite Color - Lance Icarus

This particular comic is about the fact that your level 1 mount is a donkey, so we can safely assume there will be an abundance of donkeys (a "donkey surplus") that no one wants anymore. What do we want to do with all these unwanted donkeys? Like anything in any Rockstar game, we blow the crap out of it.

On a related note, we totally just pulled off a Month of Red. Red Means Dead, Red Abs of Steel, and now Red Dead Donkey. I wonder how long we can go on with this Red theme. Oh, I may just have some fun with this one.

Red Abs of Steel

Man of Steel - Lance Icarus

I'll admit that I haven't been able to play Red Steel 2 yet (that one's still on my rental list), but boy does it look like a lot of fun. It seems like I'm going to have a nice run of sequels coming up as I'm currently playing Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and my local game store told me they just got Dark Cloud 2 in. It's nice to see when game companies get the second game right. Well, except for Prince of Persia. That game is still fun, but it took the express train out of 1001 Arabian Nights and went straight to Sin City.

Red Means Dead

Denied Ops - Lance Icarus

That little Mark and Execute function in Splinter Cell: Conviction is pretty sweet and is just so effective you want to save it for any possible situation until everyone's dead and you have no one left to use it on. I know in the demo I was taking machine gun rounds to the gut so I could melee someone and start marking up some executable fools. On a related note, using Johnny Cash's "God's Gonna Cut You Down" for those commericals? Absoutely stunning. Why can't all gaming commercials be like that instead of those stupid Gamestop machinimas.

"Looks like I..." *pumps shotgun* "got shotgun."

Just admit someone in your marketing department saw the CSI Miami meme and took credit for it.
