A New Year - Lance Icarus

With the new year comes a new comic about an old problem. Don't you just despise when your so called "friend" hits that start button, knowing exactly what you're trying to accomplish?

I also wanted to give a quick apology. For those regular readers who checked out site over the holidays, you probably noticed that updates were few and far between. I'd like to say it was because of forces beyond our control, but honestly we got lazy and plunged headfirst into the decadent sea of holiday releases and MMO leveling. Now that we're on the other side of the holiday season, the comic schedule should become more regular. I'm sorry we were so lazy over the last couple of months, but now it should be far better.

Can't Beat My 'Zard - Lance Icarus

Herman Cain recently had his goodbye speech where parts were taken directly from the movie "Pokemon 2000," something that comedian John Stewart totally destroyed him for. It's sad though, I liked Herman Cain. Sure he had a problem keeping his hands to himself, but between the movie quote and his "999 tax plan" taken from Simcity it seemed like the first true nerd candidate was showing himself. Well, I guess I could always hope the next frontrunner picks up where Cain left off.

This holiday season has been absolutely brutal for people's free time. How can anyone get any work done when there's so many games that need finishing? Well, now with the shopping nearing complete and a little over half of the game list back on the shelf, work can come back to the comic itself. I'm sorry for being lazy. Lazy and distracted.

The Beta Characters - Lance Icarus

Meet Wo'lor the Twil'lek Smuggler and Ballasti the Mirialan Trooper. They're technically the characters from our venture into the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta, but with the way we played them they became characters that I wouldn't mind doing a quick storyline with. Still, this is just a filler and I'm sorry for that. The holiday season is kicking our butts over here and I'm not entirely sure how regularly we're going to be updating. Also, Facebook is mad at us so I can't really log into the Facebook comic page, so don't expect too much news from there until this gets sorted out.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed our little one-panel and we'll come back next week with a full comic!

How Has Nobody Done This - Lance Icarus

I'd say the concept for this one wasn't original if it wasn't for the fact that I can't find anyone making it. Really internet? I expected more from you. I wrote this one because I'm currently obsessed with The Elder Scrolls. No, not Skyrim.

I purchased Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion when Steam was offering it for less than $7 dollars with all of it's DLC. I mean EVERYTHING, including the stupid horse armor. I never thought I'd do it since The Elder Scrolls was so deep that I thought I'd have to understand every sliver of lore before I could enjoy anything. As it turns out, the lore is something you actually want to explore instead of something shoe-horned in. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, but I seriously have never played a game where killing something with a bow & arrow was far more interesting than doing it with a sword. After playing this game, I'm seriously considering visting the realm of Skyrim...when it goes on sale on Steam, of course.

Vacation Week - Lance Icarus

So a bizarre thing tends to happen in the month of November. Seemingly anyone that's anyone releases their biggest titles just before Black Friday in order to get them in presents and stockings for Christmas. Some years are lighter than others, but this one is packed. I mean, bursting at the seams kinda stuff. Last week it was Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, and Saints Row: The Third all released within 5 days of each other, the latter two on the same day. Oh, and don't forget Skyward Sword coming out this Sunday (an odd day for a game release, but whatever). This has lead to a...creative block of sorts.

This one's basically on me. I simply haven't sat down and had the time to write a full comic at all. With Dizzy balancing games and work the way I am right now, we've decided this week was a great week to concentrate on beautiful, wonderful gaming. That's right, the reason for the lack of comic this week is simply because we'd rather be playing video games.

Don't be sad, we'll be back next week. For now, follow our lead and play every game you can get your hands on. Have a good one.

His Big Break - Lance Icarus

I have a proud tradition of creating a guy named Sniper, an immense creature who in real life would never be able to be vertical without the use of a pulley system, every year in WWE '12. Some would call it abuse, I prefer to think of it as an experiment in the structurial integrity of bones.

I've covered our cycle with WWE games in a previous comic and our current stage is "Shut up and take my money!" This year it's a little different since they are marketing a total overall in how things are run, including things like new engines and entirely new approaches to staple modes. It seems to be paying off with the fan favorite Road to Wrestlemania mode being one huge story instead of 6 smaller ones and the new engine being a bit more seamless than the last one. I'm also looking forward to changing WWE Superstars into the Z! True Long Island Story arena. Zack Ryder will still never get a shot at the world title there either.

What's That Over There - Lance Icarus

Me and Dizzy are currently powering through Saints Row 2 in order to get ready for Saints Row The Third. Okay, maybe powering through is a bad choice of words. It's more like getting distracted at every available opportunity.

It seems that the next few comics are about game franchises that have new games coming out during the holidays. Games we want to play. Funny how that works out, right? Anyway, today we start with Saints Row 2, then next week, another treasured game series. It's how we do things here.

While I may not be first in line to get The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim when it comes out, I know some people who are losing their minds over this. I can only assume there was something in the sales pitch that got them all excited for it. I wonder what it was....

I'm keeping this one short and sweet. Dizzy just barely managed to get Arkham City, so I'm going to be hanging out with him solely to play that game. I hope he doesn't read this. Actually, he probably already knows. Either way, BATMAN.

Marines In Spaaaace - Lance Icarus

So I recently went through the new Warhammer 40K: Space Marines game and I have to say it's not too bad. It does an awesome job of making you feel like an unstoppable bad ass. Keep in mind I was never a fan of the 40K series, so a lot of the terms and locations they keep throwing at you went right over my head. However, one thing that stuck with me though was how many "gods" they had in that game. Seriously, they have a God for basically everything. BTW, they really do have a Machine God in the game.

So hey, long time no see. We ended up taking an impromptu break this past week and I was only able to post on our Facebook page about it. I apologize for the lack of notice. I promise to make a post on the front page if we end up taking another week off.

Frank Miller's B-Day Feast - Lance Icarus

We really wanted to get this ready before the show and debut it there, but it just wasn't meant to be. We still loved the comic though, so here it is. Besides, who doesn't enjoy a little Batman?

The show I'm talking about is the Jet City Comic Show we recently came back from. We met so many cool people there and got to see some pretty cool stuff. We were even told by a developer on Batman: Arkham City that our comic "Batman's Greatest Foe" was being passed around the office. Super cool stuff! Jet City was so much fun that we plan on going back next year! We're already pre-regged for it, we're just waiting on the date, time, and booth # for next year. Stay tuned for details!

A Toad With Talent - Lance Icarus

I was playing through Star Fox 64 3D the other day and the nostalgia totally overwhelmed me. The game is very pretty with the cleaned up visuals, but one thing still bothers me. Slippy Toad still gets a lot of crap despite being the greatest mechanic in the history of Corneria. Seriously, your vehicles can do some amazing things and you have Slippy to thank. Even though his flying is terrible, he should be thanked on the daily basis. You never know when he has a bomb built into your cockpit.

So hey, Jet City Comic Con is Saturday! We'll be there at Booth #AA39 giving out bookmarks, selling prints, and shooting smiles. Come by and say hi if you're in the neighborhood!
