July 2nd, 2009: Hey I got a lot of footers! I don't know which one I'll take but I decided to put up each one I received, so you can get a glimpse into all our possible alternate realities! Okay wow! Some I can't use (they don't tile correctly) but I do really like a few of them. I may end up putting a few in rotation! For now I've gone with Danielle's bikini shot: it's fun! June 30th, 2009: As you may have noticed, I've a little footer at the bottom of the page that changes for each season, and IT IS NOW SUMMER, yet the spring footer remains. I'm not the most talented artist AND I'm visiting my parents and on a crappy laptop, so I'm hoping someone can help me out. If you'd like to design a 1000x96 summer-themed footer involving the tiny woman and house, I would be really grateful! You can see the old summer footer here - it's not 96 pixels tall. I could extend it like I did the spring one for my site redesign, but I thought it might be fun to see if something new came up. It has to loop on each side and it can even be longer than 1000 pixels if you want. Email me what you come up with, and I'll link to whatever website the winner wants me to! ASSUMING THE SITE DOES NOT CONTAIN NAKED PEOPLE WEARING NOTHING BUT A COME-HITHER SMILE, THAT IS, AND EVEN SO I GUESS IT DEPENDS ON THE QUALITY OF THE SMILE – Ryan

June 25th, 2009: I got a few emails about The Lyttle Lytton Contest, which is a contest where you make up the first line of a novel. If you're interested in funny first lines, I recommend it! The problem with funny first lines is that, if you're expecting a joke, often they're not AS funny as they would be otherwise - BUT THAT SAID, I still think this runner up from 2007 is great: "The foot delivered an unending holocaust of pain as it rocketed into Zamboni�s crotch." PRO TIP: the first time I typed that I wrote "unending holocaust of paint" Okay so this movie has been floating around lately and GUESS WHAT I really like it too! Please Say Something. Enjoy! – Ryan

June 23rd, 2009: I've often praised Jim Ottaviani's books on account of how they are excellent comics about science. His latest book, T Minus, is all about the race to the moon (it is in fact subtitled The Race To The Moon), and it turns out there's a PDF excerpt available online, so today is the day you get to read comics that normally cost money for free! June 17th, 2009: I've got this program that you can enter your food and exercise levels into and it tells you if you're eating too much. Only the thing is, it counts longboarding as less exercise than bicycling (TOTALLY NOT TRUE), and while you can enter in kissing as exercise, it tells you it burns 0 calories no matter how long you do it for! I tested by telling it I kissed for 23 hours and 55 minutes (which is the maximum time you can do anything) (in the program, anyway) and it was all, ZERO CALORIES. Anyway this concludes my review of this program I got – Ryan

June 16th, 2009: Guys here are some cool things! My friends Jeremy and Emily are watching Star Trek: TNG from the beginning, and Jeremy is making even MORE productive use of this time by starting up cmdrriker.tumblr.com, which has a new picture of Riker every day. I find I am forced to approve! Also, my friend and yours Chip Zdarsky asked people on Twitter what to draw the other day, and I said "Draw Superman flexing and showing off his tattoos", and then Dustin Harbin suggested Chip draw me flexing and showing off MY Superman tattoos and anyway LONG STORY SHORT you can buy this particularly evocative picture of me on eBay to support This American Life. AND Chip will even draw in a fourth tattoo of your choosing! Whotta deal! – Ryan

t-rex is saying he's better than ever because when he was down south he got a rejuvenating mineral bath and is determined to believe that it was worth it, did you know that all this backstory and more goes into every comic only to be ruthlessly cut

June 15th, 2009: That's guest week, everyone! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I am back and a little soggy from having someone's lawn sprinklers unceremoniously turned on while I was on the premises, but it's okay. You just strip off your shirt and you go from "soggy guy" to "topless man, glistening in the ersatz rain, running a hand through his hair in what appears to be slow motion." UPDATE! I have it on very good authority that it may have looked a little something like this. So um, you might notice that I took the week to redesign the site! I tried to simplify and make the site look more fun. The old site didn't really scream "FUN TIMES PARTY CENTRAL", but this new site does it so every way but literally. One big change is that these here posts are now kept archived. I went through the old RSSPECT RSS archives to recover a few year's worth of posts, so if you go back through the archives it's like they never left! Also, the T-Rex head at the top now says random phrases from the newer comics too, instead of just the older ones. THE FUTURE IS NOW. There may still be some problems on the site: if you notice anything screwy, let me know! – Ryan
