Yeah! Pretty much everyone is in favor of keeping the Project Wonderful ad buttons around for a while, so consider it done. I agree that it's pretty cool to have an open portal to related places, most of which are promising new webcomics!

A warm round of applause to Josh, for his 500th Girly strip! His comics are what got me addicted to the internet in the first place, and he continues to amaze.

I've taken most of the week off to relax, get some rest, and celebrate my 20th birthday with friends. But before I had time for that, I mailed out a truckload of the new Stuff Sucks books. They are in stock now, and they look hot. I'll post some pictures later on.

See you next weekend. And if you are Dutch, Happy Queen's Day!

Stuff Sucks

We're updating manually this week, due to a hacker attempt. Just for curious new readers: Stuff Sucks is on a "hobo server." I call it that, because I'm not hip to the official lingo for "abandoned servers likely to be 90% occupied with law-breaching, eastern European porn." Sometimes the server overloads and goes offline, but this time only the comic archiving system was affected.

It's the webhosting equivalent of squatting in an old building that is overdue to be torn down. The roof sometimes leaks, and no one has paid the electrics bill in 14 months. It's my only economical measure. The boy next door recently decided to put all his things in storage, and sleep on the beach all summer to save on rent. Other people drink off-brand soda. I just sell classy books off a porn server. David, you're odd, and I expect some major beach parties.

Oldschool readers shall have spotted the reference to a Chapter II scene in today's comic! I was in the mood to reminisce. It's my birthday this Friday the 27th and I'm turning 20. How about that! It means I'm down to my last days to make irresponsible teenage decisions. YEAH, let's make them count!

Stuff Sucks

Following the examples of New York, Brisbane, and Helsinki, the first Dutch annual Zombie Walk took place last night! An unforgettable stroll through the streets of Amsterdam, with some six dozen other brain-hungry ghouls. Arrests were made as unsuspecting tourists got ambushed. Check my journal for a full report later on.

The comic is up early. I couldn't wait to draw Tony in action! I also couldn't wait to post my summer convention schedule - I've never been to Toronto or Mocca bofore, so you and I might be meeting for the first time?! How exciting.

I'm debating whether to remove the Project Wonderful buttons. I would like your input. Do you ignore them? Or do you click on them daily to find new comics?

Thanks for alerting me of Todd Goldman's "This Sucks!" design, allegedly ripped off from our Binky The Fish. I addressed the issue in my journal, and commented in the <a href=http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/sun/2007/apr/12/566637041.html?todd%20goldman" target="_blank">Las Vegas Sun this week. I appreciate your concern!

Stuff Sucks

This comic was intended for last week! I guess that goes to show how tired and hungover I was last Sunday. No joke, I think I am still recovering. I might have skipped it altogether, if not for your additional emails asking who knocked up Zemi! Haha, I am such a dumbass. Thanks for putting up with me. On the bright side, I had so much fun drawing it today. I've figured out a few tricks in Flash to prevent it from freezing up towards the end, now. Joy!

Don't be shy, pre-order your Stuff Sucks comic books today! The more pre-orders I get in, the easier it will be on my wallet to have a whole bunch made in one go. I love you guys long time, but I am also in favor of meals on a regular basis.

All the sketchbooks have been mailed to their new owners in white padded envelopes, including some surprise goodies! If you're still looking to make an extra purchase, there are these crazy badge sets available in the shop.

Happy Easter. I've made it my mission to eat enough chocolate for us both.

Stuff Sucks

At long last, the pre-order of issues 4 & 5 starts now, and ends next Sunday! All pre-orders will be mailed out first, on April 12th. Why not order them along with a sketchbook, or one of the brand new Stuff Sucks button sets? Joy!

Check out Get Underground today, where I did a big fat interview about online publishing, rock music, and why girls are too smart to drawing comics. Want more to read? There's a new article about Stuff Sucks on Suite 101 and a short interview on the Webcomics In Print blog, which I did my best to sound coherent in when running critically low on sleep.

I hope you enjoy today's comic, it was a blast to make. See you next week!

Stuff Sucks

Look! Take a look! My very first watercolor painting is up for sale here! I am (not so) secretly pleased with this, my first attempt at mastering the devilish puddles of color.

Also for sale this week is the sketchbook I've been on about for weeks. Just to clarify, I made so few copies because the insides are personal, and I guess I don't feel comfortable with the whole world seeing them? If you really like the comic, I can guarantee you'll find enjoyment in this book.

I drew the comic on my new Apple computer this week! It's marvelous. The only problem is how slow Photoshop and Flash 8 apparently run on Intel-based Macs. Thanks for your emails about that, I thought I had done something wrong to slow these programs down so much! I'll just have to cope for now.

I've nearly finished moving into my new flat! Read all about it in my journal. See you next Sunday.

The sketchbooks I had copied came out perfectly. It's 99% material I've never scanned in, so I'm very curious to your response. However many copies remain after the London show on March 17th will be up for grabs online, of course!

MARCH 18TH

Holy crap, I'm using my first iMac to update tonight. Hit refresh if you don't see the new comic. St. Patties Day in London was mad fun! Thanks for making the UK Thing 2007 one of my favorite shows ever. If you took any pictures, drop me a line. I just flew back into Amsterdam, thoroughly exhausted, but certainly satisfied.

Stuff Sucks will update on Sunday as usual, along with surprise new items for sale, including the first ever Zemi watercolor painting! See you then.

Stuff Sucks

I drew this comic away from home and it took some adjusting. I've ordered a new iMac, which is marvelous, but puts me deeper in debt. I've never brought myself properly in debt like this before, but it is rumored to be the "cool" student thing to do? I am savoring every moment.

It was touching that several of you offered to (help) fund my new computer, but the concept of online donations has always made me uneasy. Of course if you want to buy a thing or two from the SHOP, who am I to object? Thanks for your support and concern - it is something priceless.

My sketchbook is being printed this week! Very exciting. I will also have a new set of badges for sale at the UK Thing. If you live anywhere in reach, I urge you to come over! It might be my only UK appearance of 2007. I will have my USA convention dates confirmed very soon.

Damn straight, absolutely nowhere is safe from me this year.

Stuff Sucks

Yay Imogen! Quite a few people ask if she is based on me, because of the big hair I guess, and I have to say sadly she is not. Not more than the other characters I write, anyway. Imogen is like the charming little sister I never had (to corrupt). Man, where did that family charm go?

Some very bad news is that MY COMPUTER DIED. I'll have to buy a new one fast, as soon as I stumble upon a fortune. I was going to bring issues 4 and 5 to the Thing in London just a few weeks, but without my old hard disk restored yet, that doesn't look like a realistic deadline.

Instead I've been digging out all of my notebooks and drawing pads, and I'm getting crafty with a xerox machine to bring you a real oldskool sketchbook! If I have any time left, I would love to sit down and do some painted items, too.

We'll see how it goes! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I've been discovering some great new artists by clicking through the rotating Project Wonderful buttons above. The best part is that these sponsors are Stuff Sucks readers just like you. So give them a look sometime, and consider running an ad of your own!

Thanks to everyone who has recently ordered shirts. If you have any questions about your order, please contact Cristi, my shirt distributor, at stuffsuckstore AT gmail DOT com for direct assistance.

This is the last comic I'll be uploading from Manchester for a while. My school exchange is complete, and so tomorrow I fly back to my windmill. I am already looking forward to new adventures that await me on the other side of the pond! Farewell England, we had some good times! Don't cry too much, but do cry a little for the sake of my fragile ego.

Cheers.

Stuff Sucks

Sorry the comic is a few hours late! I stayed in Brighton with my lovely friend Sri this weekend, a fellow artist from the Sofa Lounge show last November. We had a kick ass time! It was my second time in Brighton, but having a local guide to the best shops, clubs and creative folk in town made a huge difference.

This week I'm getting ready to move back to Holland, and sending off Stuff Sucks issue 4 and 5 to Austria to be printed! Get a preview of the covers, and find out more about them in my journal.

The 3 new t-shirts / ladies shirts are in production this week, and they will be mailed out from Massachusetts very soon! Now is a good time to order yours. And last but not least, FREE SHIPPING on the big cast poster this week only!

Mike is figuring it out, man.

Not much to report today, except that I'm particularly hungry, and I managed to snooker someone into cooking for me tonight. Nice.

FEBRUARY 6TH

Woops! It has been brought to my attention that Stuff Sucks was nominated for 2 Webcartoonist Choice Awards this year! One for Best Layout and another for Best Slice-Of-Life. Exciting! If you have an online comic of your own, you can register here to vote. Voting ends this Sunday.

Stuff Sucks

I had to leave the last panel blank, this way it makes me smile. Maybe it's always a bad idea to alter your script on the day of the world's weirdest head cold hangover? Probably, I don't know. Last night I got a last-minute live art gig at Pangea, a festival of 4000 people and ten hours of solid rocking out. I was allowed the biggest canvas I could handle, a massive 8x4 ft board. Fun! If you missed that but you're in Manchester this week, come to the Mint Lounge exhibition on Wednesday night. Swanky! Directions are available here.

This is your last week to pre-order the 3 new t-shirts before they get printed! It's also the last week to get a free sketch with orders above 20 euros, or to simply commission me to draw you a sketch of your favorite Stuff Sucks character(s).

My journal is getting flooded with journal comics later this week, as I attempt the Hourly Comic Day. Anyone can participate! That dude Dean Trippe got me into it. I've already been warming up; literally, you might even say.

Stuff Sucks

Tony is in for one nasty surprise! I left the party early tonight to get this one done on time, and I don't regret it. I took great pleasure in drawing pothead granny and lots of ridiculous hairdo's.

It's been an extremely good week, for no reason in particular! I've been walking around with a big smile on my face. Enough to creep people out, no doubt. Waking up to a load of sketches to draw every morning is nice. I'm confident to bump it up now, and offer large combination sketches of 2 characters. I even came up with a few t-shirt designs in the process of everything.

If you check out the SHOP right now, you'll see 3 new shirts! It's currently pre-order phase, and I recommend buying now to ensure you get what you want. If you fancy wearing all of them (at once) but you're on a tight budget, there's a saving combo pack, and some older designs on discount.

I'm in a disgustingly good mood! Quick, tell me a bad joke or something.
